The dragon fruit (also known as Pitaya, scientific name Hylocereus undatus) is a species of fruit, the fruit of the genus Cactus, most importantly its genus Hylocereus (sweet Pitaya).  This fruit is originally known as dragon fruit.  People in the People’s Republic of China call it dragon fruit on fire and dragon pearl fruit, the sweet dragon in Vietnam, dragon fruit in Indonesia and Malaysia, and dragon crystal in Thailand.  Other indigenous names are strawberry pear or genetic fruit.  This fruit comes in multiple colors.  However, red dragon fruit is more common.

 Delivery:

Like the vines of this genus Hyalosirius, Pitaya first came from native Mexico, Central America, and South America.  Currently, these are available in East Asian and Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia (especially West Java), Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and more.

Recently it is cultivated in Bangladesh.  Also found in Okinawa, Hawaii, Israel, Palestine, Northern Australia, and South China.
